If Paul quotes from a Greek poet on Mars Hill in one of his letters that made it into the canon of Scripture (after hundreds of years of bickering about which books were canonical and which weren’t), does that mean that the two or three sentences that the Epicurean poet said is the ‘word of God’? Or does it just mean that in that verse, Paul was simply quoting what someone said?
